Our Vision

The vision statement at Bethany is “Know God, Love God, Share God.”

It’s a simple description of what we strive to be and do. The overarching mission of every church is the Great Commission, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 NRSV). The second part about being a witness is what we are called to do. The first part, being empowered by the Holy Spirit, is the heart-power for that work. Jesus said it well, “apart from me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5b). We know that it all begins with being rooted in God.

And so we want to be a church that seeks to know God better, love God deeper, and share God everywhere. God first reached down to us through Jesus his Son and showed himself to us as love. In love, Jesus took on human form, in love, Jesus lived a humble life, in love, he offered his life as our sacrifice and was beaten and died. And in love he rose again, offered us peace and reconciliation with God, and commanded us to know God better, love God deeper, and share God everywhere, inside the church with fellow believers, but also outside the walls of the church, near and far.
